The Banff Centre has issued a call for applications for WIDC Aspects of Camera and Post Production, a mini master class led by award-winning cinematographer and senior picture editor (TBA)Roger Vernon. Beginning with the end picture in mind, this class is facilitated by Women in the Director’s Chair producer Carol Whiteman and will be run January 15th through 19th, 2014 – the application deadline is December 11th. This program is open to up to eight Canadian women directors.
Participants explore key aspects of working with the cinematographer and editor. These include:
- what to look for in creative collaborations
- how to communicate and convey your story in the cinematographer and picture editor’s languages of pictures, motion, rhythm, pacing, and tone
- technical aspects such as shot composition, styles of light and lighting, lenses, and the essentials of axis and eye line
The workshop will include in-class demonstrations of image capture and how things cut together, after which participants will review and deconstruct the learning opportunities with the mentors.
Please note: The application deadline for directors is December 11, 2013. The application deadline for actors and crew is December 8, 2013. Actors and crew must apply through the Creative Women Workshops site.
