TELETOON Canada’s classic cartoon channel TELETOON Retro has launched a set of family-friendly online cartoon trivia games, Toon Feud (English version) and Les P’tits Génies (French version). Toon Feud invites Canadian families to go head-to-head in good-natured rounds of TELETOON Retro-based trivia. The game is enjoyable for parents who can access their wealth of childhood cartoon knowledge and for kids who are discovering these classic cartoon characters for the first time.
Playable via tablet, smartphone or computer, Toon Feud marks TELETOON Canada’s first ever second screen offering and brings a modern twist to the popular “family game night” tradition. In addition to an ever-growing library of trivia packs based on TELETOON Retro cartoons and general pop culture, Toon Feud will feature live programming events, wherein games are linked to on-air programming and trivia questions are inspired by the shows currently being broadcast.
“TELETOON Retro is all about spending time together as a family, which is why creating a family-friendly trivia game felt like a perfect fit for the network,” said Gavin Friesen, Director, Interactive, TELETOON Canada Inc. “Tablet ownership in families is growing rapidly and these devices are often used while watching television. Toon Feud allows us to extend the family viewing experience onto these new platforms.”
Families who wish to play the game can create a team and choose from a wide selection of themed game packs, each of which features three rounds of trivia covering topics such as The Flintstones and “Super Action Villains.” By answering questions like “Who is the alien that often helps Fred and Barney?” and “Where do the Care Bears live,” teams earn points and badges and can keep tabs on their ranking among other Canadian families. Badges are also shareable on Facebook through a parent’s account.
Developed entirely in-house by the TELETOON Interactive team, Toon Feud has been designed to allow for a number of highly integrated sponsorship opportunities, including branded trivia, events and games. Developed in HTML5, the game is playable within the web browser of most brands of tablets.
Toon Feud will feature special weekly live programming events every Friday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET during the TELETOON Retro Fun Flicks movie. The first live Toon Feud game will take place on Friday, April 19 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET during Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Secret of the Ooze.
Parents can create a team and log-in using their Facebook account. You can find more information on the TELETOON Retro website or by following @TELETOONRetro on Twitter or by liking their page on Facebook.
