AMI Launches 2013 Scholarship Program

Accessible Media IncAccessible Media Inc. (AMI) has announced that it will launch its 2013 Scholarship Program on Tuesday, April 2nd. Entering its second season, the AMI Scholarship Program reaffirms the organization’s continuing mission to improve, increase and promote media accessibility for all Canadians. The program awards two $5,000 scholarships per year to qualifying individuals, one of which is reserved for a student with a permanent disability. The application deadline for this year’s program is Tuesday, May 28th at 3 pm ET.

“We launched the AMI Scholarship Program last year in the hopes of raising awareness of the numerous challenges that millions of Canadians face accessing media on a daily basis,” explains Peter Burke, AMI Vice-President of Marketing and Communications. “The quality of submissions in our first year was so impressive and we look forward to another successful program in 2013.”

Eligible students will be asked, in 500 words or less, to comment on this statement:

Imagine that you were addressing a room of your peers. Please write a speech that you would give to educate others on the importance of making mass media (including radio, television, online and print mediums) accessible to persons with disabilities.
