Largest Kids’ Activity Database Expands to Vancouver and Calgary

mini-orbyTheKidScoop.com has announced that they will be expanding West into other Canadian cities including Vancouver and Calgary this summer, offering Canadian parents a searchable database of hyper-local kids activities, events, content and family friendly deals.

Families in Vancouver and Calgary will gain access to theKidScoop.com’s online database of kids’ activities and events just in time for the summer of 2012. Launched in 2009 in Montreal and 2011 in Toronto, TheKidScoop.com is a free, interactive database featuring local kid’s activities and special events. Families in Vancouver and Calgary will now have the access to these same services offered to visitors in Toronto and Montreal.

The Kid Scoop delivers solutions to busy parents’ and helps Canadian parents find, plan and organize their kids activities online. By choosing their child’s age range, interests, and neighbourhood, theKidScoop.com serves hyper-local, targeted content to a parent.

“Our site is not like other activity sites. We offer a directory of kids activities and events however; we also send monthly custom emails to parents based on a family’s profile. The Kid Scoop is like having a personal assistant weeding through thousands of activities and identifying those suited to each family’s interests, kids’ age and in a specified neighborhood,” said KidScoop President, Cindy Fagen. “For example, when a parent creates a Scoop account they might tell us they have a 6 year old interested in “Art Classes” in “Kitsilano”. Scoop then matches this family profile against 1000’s of activities in our database. Each month that parent receives a Your Scoop Update, a personalized email that includes their chosen activities.”

TheKidScoop.com approach goes beyond a database of local activities. They have created a platform that is customized to the need of each individual user.

“The expansion to Western Canada is a natural extension to The Kid Scoop with the success of Scoop in Toronto and Montreal and the number of kids activities available to parents in these 2 cities,” continued Fagen. “Our database of activity providers in Vancouver and Calgary already holds thousands of kid-friendly businesses in the 2 areas.”

Plans are now underway to launch The Kid Scoop in a US city in the Fall 2012
