Louis CK to Headline New Interactive Festival In Toronto

jfl42The first ever JFL42, in association with Air Canada, will kick off in Toronto this fall. From September 21-28th, this unique festival will celebrate 42 of the funniest, most innovative and contemporary things from Toronto and around the world. The first of “the 42”, and the headliner, Louis CK will perform four concerts at the Sony Centre. The other 41 selections will include a variety of performances, attractions, and experiences with cool stars, small stars and soon-to-be stars in comedy and the arts, in various venues across the city.

JFL42 is a brand new type of festival that will be designed by and for its pass holders. The smart-phone-based festival pass will give holders exclusive access to a specially designed mobile reservation and check-in system equipped with the power they need to see all of “the 42”. Festival pass holders will be able to design their own festival experience by creating demand for each event, which could result in added shows or moving to bigger venues. This inaugural festival is an experiment that lies in the hands (or fingertips) of the pass holders. Our community will define what JFL42 will become.

As a festival that recognizes innovation and creativity, it’s no wonder that Louis CK was selected not only to be one of the 42, but also as the festival headliner. CK is at the forefront of innovation in the entertainment industry, notably with the highly publicized release of his comedy special “Live at the Beacon Theater” which he produced and distributed entirely on his own, through his website. His impressive credits include being the creator, writer, director and actor on Louie, he was the recipient of four Comedy Awards, several Emmy nominations and, last but not least, he was named one of Time Magazine’s Top 100 Most Influential People in 2012.

During JFL42, Louis CK will be performing all new material live at the Sony Centre. He will be doing four concerts from Thursday September 27th to Friday the 28th. The Festival pass will come with a reserved Louis CK seat for one of his concerts, all for a special introductory price starting at $99 (no extra fees!). The rest of the JFL42 roster promises to be hilarious, thought-provoking and diverse. Be it a stand-up show, a comedy podcast, a screening, a poetic reading, a book signing, or a dance party, every event will be original and unconventional. There will be many more exciting announcements in the coming weeks and as they say at the JFL42 headquarters, “Comedy is just the beginning…”

JFL42 will thrive on the pass holder connections and experience. The smart-phone-based pass will allow users to connect in real-time with fellow festival-goers, performers and organizers. Through live streaming, tweeting and frequent updates, the festival will capture the attention of audiences around the world.

The only way to guarantee yourself a seat at Louis’ live show and to experience the other 41 things, is to buy a festival pass at JFL42.com. Passes go on sale Friday, May 25th at 10:00 am. In the meantime, fans can visit JFL42 on Facebook and follow all the action on Twitter @jfl42 and #jfl42. JFL42 is the product of a first-time partnership between Just For Laughs and Live Nation.
