The Game Lab required five teams from seven participating universities to develop a playable video game demo and design document. The projects were presented on April 11th, to a jury panel made up of Ubisoft Montreal employees and an Autodesk representative.
In an awards ceremony hosted at Autodesk Canada’s Montreal office, the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue team received the Best prototype award at the Ubisoft Game Lab competition. Carl Leduc-Benoît, Michaël Émond Tellier, Francis Brosseau, Roxanne Grenon, Minh Nhat Le and Kaermack Polewska will create a full video game based on their prototype during the Ubisoft Summer School.
Game Lab and Ubisoft Summer School are part of Academia, a banner overseeing programs aimed at introducing and educating young people to the careers and production process of video games. Participation in Game Lab and Ubisoft Summer School can result in full-time jobs in Montreal’s video game industry.
