The Source Announces Product Exclusives From BlackBerry And Kindle

the sourceThe Source has announced the exclusive in-store availability of Kindle Touch – Amazon’s all-new full-featured e-reader. Lighter than a paperback, thinner than a magazine and featuring the new 6″ (15.2 cm) e-ink touch display, Kindle Touch enables customers to download books and other materials in less than 60 seconds and enjoy them anytime and anywhere.

“With the introduction of the touch screen e-ink display, Kindle Touch takes the great Kindle reading experience and makes it even better,” said Bruce Dinan, Executive Vice President of Merchandising at The Source. “And with room for up to 3,000 books, customers can download a book a week for the next 57 years and still not reach capacity.”

Kindle Touch’s intuitive e-ink touch screen provides an easy-to-read, high-contrast display that reads like real paper with no glare even in bright sunlight, with 8 font sizes and 3 font styles for customers to choose.kindle touch

To build a personal library, customers can select from more than a million current books, magazines and newspapers, plus millions of classic books that are out of copyright. Kindle Touch also gives access to thousands of audio books read by authors and other celebrities.

“Kindle Touch is so simple to use, right out of the box,” said Mr. Dinan. “There’s no software to install, and you don’t need a computer to access the content you want from any Wi-Fi hotspot at home or on the road. And if you just want to listen, close your eyes and Kindle Touch’s text-to-speech feature can read English content out loud.”

Kindle Touch’s Whispersync technology synchronizes the Kindle library and the last page read across your devices so customers can read a few pages on their phone or computer and pick up right where they left off on their Kindle.

“We chose to launch exclusively with The Source for the second consecutive time because of their friendly, knowledgeable sales associates, enabling customers to experience Kindle Touch prior to making their purchasing decision,” said Mike McKenna, Vice President, Amazon Kindle. “Kindle Touch offers consumers an unparalleled reading experience with the latest generation electronic ink display, fast page turns and long battery life.”

Kindle Touch is available in-store today exclusively at The Source locations across Canada for $139.99.

As was announced by Research In Motion earlier this month, the new BlackBerry® Mini Keyboard – the latest accessory for the BlackBerry® PlayBook Tablet™ – is available now, also exclusively at The Source.  The BlackBerry Mini Keyboard is ultra portable and comes complete with a stylish convertible case that doubles as a stand for the tablet when open. It features an integrated touchpad that supports BlackBerry PlayBook gestures, which allows users to navigate and control the tablet as easily as using the touch screen on the device itself.BlackBerry PlayBook Mini Keyboard

“With the mini keyboard, the BlackBerry PlayBook becomes an even more powerful mobile computing solution,” said Bruce Dinan, Executive Vice President of Merchandising at The Source. “And with its integrated touchpad, stylish carrying case and built-in stand, it’s the ideal productivity enhancer and must have accessory for PlayBook users.”

The BlackBerry Mini Keyboard connects to the BlackBerry PlayBook over Bluetooth® and features 128-bit encryption to keep the data passed between the keyboard and tablet secure. When active, the keyboard frees up 100% of the PlayBook tablet’s display for typing email, creating documents, surfing the web or using other apps. It conveniently uses the micro-USB charger that comes with the tablet, and the keyboard battery lasts up to 30 days on a full charge. The BlackBerry Mini Keyboard works with the new BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 Messages, Contacts and Calendar apps as well as Documents to Go®, and provides an optimal user experience for third party apps such as Citrix Receiver, which allows users to remotely access their Windows desktop and apps from the tablet.

“The Source has been a strong retail partner for RIM with the BlackBerry PlayBook and we’re pleased to expand our relationship with them as our exclusive Canadian launch partner for the BlackBerry Mini Keyboard,” said James Poulton, Director, Advanced Accessories at Research In Motion.

The BlackBerry PlayBook Mini Keyboard is available in-store today exclusively at The Source locations and thesource.ca across Canada for an introductory promotional price of $99.99. The BlackBerry PlayBook tablet is also available from The Source for $199.99, $249.99 and $299.99 for the 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB variants respectively.
