Halifax is in the midst of nature’s charm and this spring, creativity is expected to flow from the heart of the city. During March 23-25 2012, Startup Weekend will inspire minds at the Dalhousie University campus. This will be the second Startup Weekend for Halifax. Last March, the Government of Canada announced over $61 million in funding for research and innovation projects throughout Atlantic Canada. “The Atlantic Innovation Fund demonstrates the importance of maritime cities like Halifax for development of new Canadian technologies,” adds Derek Ho, CEO at Inceptive Solutions Inc. – premier sponsor of Startup Weekend Halifax. “Entrepreneurialism in Atlantic Canada is growing at a substantial pace and we are very excited to have the opportunity to help Nova Scotia take it to the next level.”
Paulette Dunn, organizer of Startup Weekend Halifax, has extended a warm thank you to Inceptive Solutions from Dalhousie University and the Norman Newman Centre for Entrepreneurship: “The true value of the support extends well beyond the prize money to include Derek’s personal involvement in the event as a mentor and judge as we mutually contribute to the innovative capacity of the shared community.”
Other mentors at the event include Brian Lowe, Co-founder and Director of the First Angel Network Association – Atlantic Canada’s largest association for private investors. Startup Weekend Halifax tickets are available at early bird pricing until Feb 22, 2012.
