Two Apps To Help You Keep Your Resolutions On Track

telus [1]TELUS [1] and ACTI-MENU [2] have announced they will help Quebecers take charge of their health in the New Year by launching two mobile applications: Help me Quit! [3] and 30mobile [4]. Designed by TELUS and available on all networks, these two applications will support Quebecers as they quit smoking and track their daily physical activity. Now available on Apple, BlackBerry and Android mobile devices, they are free for download for participants in the Quit to Win! Challenge [5] and the 5?30 Health and Wellness Challenge [6].

“At TELUS, we believe technology can be a powerful tool to help everyone who wants to take charge of their health and adopt a healthy lifestyle,” said Paul Lepage, senior vice-president, TELUS Health Solutions. “Studies show that the use of mobility significantly increases the success rates of participants wishing to improve their lifestyle. With the Help me Quit! and 30mobile applications, participants can take action to improve their lifestyles while enjoying all the benefits of mobility. This is one more step in our journey to help modernize health care in Canada through innovative technologies.”

Participants of the Quit to Win! Challenge and anyone who downloads the Help me Quit! application can create a group of supporters who can then cheer them on through the process. Participants can also share their victories and their struggles with supporters who in turn can send messages congratulating and encouraging them.

The 30mobile application for the 5?30 Health and Wellness Challenge tracks the physical activity of participants to evaluate and assess the results of their efforts. Whether as part of sports or daily activities, the integrated pedometer can calculate the number of calories burned, the distance and duration of the activity. Starting March 1st and continuing throughout the 5?30 Health and Wellness Challenge participants will also receive daily messages of encouragement to help them stay focused on their resolution and achieve their health goals.

“At ACTI-MENU, we believe that every person can have a significant influence on their health and quality of life by adopting preventive behaviors and making good choices in terms of their lifestyle,” says Dr. Louis Gagnon, co-president of ACTI-MENU. “We are thrilled about our partnership with TELUS, a company that shares this vision. These two new applications are additional tools that will help Canadians take charge of their health.”
