An Evil Scientist Has Kidnapped World Book’s Building Blocks of Science

world book incWorld Book’s Building Blocks of Science characters have been kidnapped by an Evil Scientist–the dastardly Dr. Edwin Quark. Gasp! He has hidden the Building Blocks of Science characters throughout the universe and World Book needs help in finding them in time to publish the 10-volume series.

Luckily, according to the Geneva Convention rules that regulate Evil Scientists, Dr. Edwin Quark is obligated to provide clues that will help World Book friends find the Building Blocks characters. Dr. Quark will regularly post clues on both World Book’s web site and World Book’s Facebook Page. Visitors who help World Book find the characters will automatically be entered into a sweepstakes for World Book World Book Contestproduct and other prizes.

“I’m pleased to announced that World Book has created its first graphic nonfiction series, Building Blocks of Science,” said Don Keller, President of World Book. “Our mission with this interactive sweepstakes is to introduce Building Blocks of Science in a manner that is just as fun and engaging as the series itself.”

“I have kidnapped the Building Blocks of Science in order to become ruler of this planet!” exclaimed Dr. Edwin Quark, Evil Scientist. “Let’s just see how well you function without the most powerful forces in nature! The only thing that can stop me is if you figure out where I’ve stashed them. But you inferior creatures are no match for my superior mind!”

Every weekday—from Monday, Nov. 14 thru Friday, Dec. 9—the evil Dr. Edwin Quark will post a clue that will help World Book friends find a missing Building Blocks of Science character. Any visitor who enters a guess on World Book’s web site or World Book’s Facebook Page will automatically be entered into a sweepstakes for weekly prizes.

Every Friday during the sweepstakes, grateful Building Blocks of Science characters will randomly select winners from the pool of people who entered answers to Dr. Edwin Quark’s clues. Winners will be sent a ball cap featuring the entire Building Blocks of Science gang. A final grand-prize drawing for a set of Building Blocks of Science will be held when all characters have been located and safely returned to World Book. The cast of Building Blocks of Science characters includes Gravity; Magnetism; Matter; Energy; Light; Sound; Electricity; Force and Motion; and Heat.

Each character’s clue page also contains important information about the properties of the science topic represented by the character. As a result, the daily clues also provide a fun learning experience on complex science concepts.
