Kids Out of the Box – TedX Kids In BC

tedx kids bcWe all know incredible kids who do amazing things that go above and beyond our normal day-to-day status quo. We know those kids who think in wonderfully different ways than the rest of us. And we know those kids who see our world with their own unique perspective.

This weekend, on Saturday September 17th those brilliant kids, both young and old, will be speaking at TEDxKids@BC, a new event being held at the Roundhouse Community Centre in Vancouver. This impressive roster of speakers will share their ingenuity and “out of the box” thinking through their inspiring stories. Audience members will hear motivating presentations and will have many opportunities to meet fellow attendees.

Throughout the day, TEDxKids@BC will encourage all participants, both speakers and audience alike, to share their own thoughts and passions. The organizers believe that by facilitating this event, like-minded individuals will form strong connections and many promising ideas will get a great start. Post-event day, a web platform will be made available so that these relationships will be able to continue to develop and these amazing kids’ dreams can become a reality.

While attendance applications for this event were closed in August, those interested in the event can watch it live on the internet at TEDxKids@BC Live.

Goran Kimovski, founder of TEDxKids@BC, launched the idea of a TEDx event for kids in Vancouver because of his insight as a father and a learner, explaining that his “vision for TEDxKids@BC is to be (and remain) first and foremost an idea – one that can inspire. An idea of a world in which passion, creativity, critical thinking and other 21st century skills will be valued above everything else and fostered in our kids at a young age. An idea of a society teaching their children social intelligence, compassion, and to embrace diversity. An idea that is worth spreading.”

TEDxKids@BC is part of a movement of independently organized TEDx events around the world, created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading.” The TEDx program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level. The TEDxKids@BC event has been created by a team of parents, educators and people who have a vision of nurturing creative, passionate, empowered children.
