Seminar Topics Announced for Future Play 2009

Future PlaySault Ste. Marie – The Future Play 2009 conference on gaming and design is pleased to announce that seminar topics for this year’s conference have just been finalized.

Says Rick Mahoney of Cinetik, the Conference Co-Chair of Future Play: “I think we have been able to capture a very interesting spectrum of topics with the seminars we have selected. I feel that there is a good balance between technical ‘how-to’ seminars and presentations that will be more philosophical in nature.”

Game Audio Education – Adding Audio to your Games Courses and Games to your Audio Courses: presented by Karen Collins, Bill Kapralos, Leonard Paul and David Kerr

Designing Effective Exercise Video Games: presented by Nicholas Graham, Tadeusz Stach and Regan Mandryk

The Future of Player Experience Research: presented by Lennart Nacke, Mike Ambinder, Alessandro Canossa, Anders Drachen, Regan Mandryk and David Pinelle

The Future of Ethics, Games and Play: presented by John Nordlinger, Miguel Sicart, Chris Swain, Alison Bryant and Colleen Macklin

IGDA Game Accessibility Group: presented by Michelle Hinn

Designing Active Play Components into Games: presented by Anthony Whitehead

The Future Play 2009 conference will be taking place this May 12th to 13th in Vancouver British Columbia as part of GDC Canada. Since its inception in 2002, Future Play has provided a home for cutting-edge researchers, game developers and theorists share their ideas with an audience that includes industry-experts, students, investors and government officials involved in the digital media and games industry. Future Play focuses on the three major themes of future games development, future games impacts and applications and future games talent.

Future Play 2009 is sponsored by Algoma University, the North American home of the Masters of Science in Computer Games Technology Degree, with support from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.
