TFcon – Canada’s Transformers Collectors Convention – returns July 27-29, 2012 to the Delta Meadowvale Resort and Conference Centre in Mississauga for its 10th anniversary. The convention’s organizers are happy to announce they will be holding their first ever charity auction July 28th for Make-A-Wish Canada. Shopping for new school supplies is a cherished end-of- summer tradition for families across Canada. When the school bell rings in September however, many Canadian families struggle to provide their children with the supplies they need to succeed. Staples Canada and its customers are banding together for the 7th annual Staples School Supply Drive. The 2012 campaign will officially kick off July 29 and run until September 9, 2012. The Canadian Forces Personnel and Family Support Services (CFPFSS) is set to release a fundraising album, Sound of Freedom, on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 (Willow Music / EMI Music Canada). Proceeds from the album will be assigned to the Support Our Troops Fund. The album features a unique collaboration between musician members of the Canadian Forces, and civilian singers featuring Alexandria Beck, Alan Frew, Mark Masri, Luke McMaster and Annie Villeneuve. The band is appropriately titled, MARCH ON. Produced by Glass Tiger’s Sam Reid, Sound of Freedom was recorded largely at the Canadian Forces Central Band Studio in Ottawa and at Newmarket, Ontario’s SlipOne Digital in 2010 and 2011. Telus and First Book Canada have announced that the two groups will deliver more than 30,000 new age-appropriate books to approximately 50 schools and programs across the Greater Toronto Area through the Telus Terrific Tales program. Deliveries will begin at North Kipling Junior Middle School in Etobicoke and will continue until June 25.
