PointClickCare And TigerText Partner To Integrated Secure Text Messaging Solution To Senior Care Market

pointclickcareMississauga’s PointClickCare, provider of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) platform and associated solutions for the senior care market, today announced that it has entered into an exclusive partnership with TigerText, an American-based real-time messaging developer for the enterprise, to deliver secure text messaging capabilities via TigerText’s Software Development Kit (“SDK”) to their EHR platform for LTPAC providers.

As the market’s most widely adopted EHR system with more than 9,000 long-term and post- acute care facilities, PointClickCare chose to partner with TigerText, the market’s most widely adopted secure messaging solution which is deployed to more than 3,000 healthcare facilities, to meet the growing demand for secure communications between healthcare providers and practitioners. The partnership with TigerText will enable PointClickCare clients to leverage the power and simplicity of secure messaging from both PointClickCare’s EHR platform and on mobile devices while complying with growing industry requirements. With the planned SDK integration, nurses and physicians will have the ability to securely communicate time sensitive patient issues with one another instantaneously via text, and do so directly from within PointClickCare’s EHR system or from the TigerText mobile application. This enhanced communication option will not only help PointClickCare clients better coordinate their residents’ care, but also assist in the effort to reduce unnecessary hospital readmissions.

“LTPAC providers have long been in need of a reliable and robust secure messaging solution that is HIPAA compliant, has the flexibility to be used within their EHR platform and on mobile devices, and also enables relevant conversations to be included in the resident’s record,” said Mike Wessinger, President and CEO of PointClickCare. “Our exclusive partnership with TigerText enables us to provide our customers with the most secure messaging solution available, with the added convenience of accessing it through the system they’re already familiar with.”

For providers using the integrated solution, secure text messages can be sent and received directly within the EHR system as well as on care providers’ mobile devices, making it easy to track multiple conversations around one resident and quickly message physicians while they’re on the go. By helping staff streamline communication, organizations can ensure real-time collaboration exists between long-term, post-acute and primary caregivers – a key element in the effort to improve resident care and reduce unnecessary hospital readmissions.

“We are excited to have PointClickCare, the leading EHR platform for long-term care, integrated with TigerText via TigerConnect and leverage our open API platform,” said Brad Brooks, TigerText co-founder and CEO. “With this SDK integration we are expanding our presence in both the EHR and long-term acute care market by delivering a much-needed secure messaging platform at all points of care.”

PointClickCare and TigerText are working closely to bring the integrated solution to the market in the first quarter of 2014.
