Loud Crow Announces Verso Story Engine

Loud Crow Interactive [1]Loud Crow Interactive [1] has announced that Verso Story Engine [2], the framework used to create multiple award-winning apps, such as “Goodnight Moon,” “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “Marvel Avengers: Iron Man Mark VII,” “The Going to Bed Book,” and “PopOut! The Tale of Peter Rabbit,” is now available for free license under a Beta program.

The Verso Story Engine is a content-driven framework that enables users to create native apps for iOS and Android without writing a single line of native code. Using industry standard web technologies (Flash, CSS, Javascript), content creators such as authors, illustrators, web/mobile developers, and media agencies can get highly interactive content up and running on mobile platforms within hours with minimal training. To celebrate the announcement of the Verso Story Engine Beta program, “Goodnight Moon [3]” is being offered for free on iOS for a limited time.

Bramble Berry Tales: The Story of Kalkalilh [4]” will be the first app to be developed and released under the Verso Story Engine Beta program. Created by Rival Schools [5], a digital agency based in Vancouver, and published by Loud Crow Interactive, it is the first in a series of original story apps adapted from traditional indigenous folk tales. It is scheduled for release on August 1, 2013 in English, French, Spanish, and Squamish languages.

“Working with the Verso Story Engine has been a great experience for us,” says Roy Husada, Creative Director and Principal at Rival Schools. “Loud Crow has done an excellent job of building a framework that allows a creative studio like us to author top quality interactive content with a streamlined production pipeline and proven technologies at a fraction of the typical cost and time of developing native apps.” Apps created by the Verso Story Engine have generated more than five million downloads to date, earning one iTunes Hall of Fame induction, eight iTunes Editor’s Choice awards, seven Parent’s Choice Awards, and six Kirkus Stars.
