Samsung Canada Announces Commercial Availability Of Samsung School Classroom Technology Solution

Samsung Canada [1]Samsung Electronics Canada [1] has announced the commercial availability of Samsung School [2] in Canada, a fully integrated one-to-one education solution that combines the latest tablet and display technology to create an interactive, student-centric learning environment. Samsung School is a complete classroom solution which  consists of the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet for student and teacher use as well as Samsung School software licenses. Additional Samsung components can easily be configured, including a 55 or 65-inch digital e-Board, wireless printer, notebook PC for class curriculum management and an AllShare Cast dongle for existing in class e-boards.

“Samsung is committed to enabling new learning experiences for Canadian students and educators through the use of our technology,” said Philippe Lozier, Director of Business Solutions for Samsung Canada. “After a successful Canadian pilot program, we’re pleased to announce that Samsung School is available for commercial purchase across Canada.”

An Integrated Solution – Samsung School is an integrated digital education solution for K-12 classrooms, combining Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1 tablets with learning management and interactive teaching software. The easy-to-use learning management system (LMS) helps teachers with course administration and content management. In class, interactive teaching tools include: screen sharing; student screen monitoring, screen lock, instant quizzes, group collaboration, dynamic access to content as well as controls to track student progress and lesson plans, all the while making use of the GALAXY Note 10.1 tablet and the sophisticated S Pen.

First Samsung School Implementations – Over the past year, Samsung has partnered with over 20 school districts globally to pilot Samsung School, including two schools in Canada: Riverside Secondary School in Port Coquitlam, BC and Robina Baker Elementary School in Devon, AB. The pilot programs helped ensure the technology is teacher- and student-tested and approved prior to the commercial launch.

“In my 30 years as a teacher, this is the most impactful technology solution I’ve ever seen in the classroom,” said Deb Nordheimer, Grade 11 teacher at Riverside Secondary School. “It’s not only made it easier for me to manage my classroom, it’s brought an energy to my students because it’s so interactive.”

“Samsung School has brought such a dynamic energy to the classroom,” said Matthew Kierstead, Principal of Robina Baker Elementary School. “Through these easy-to-manage digital tools, we are able to truly focus on education instead of the technology. This is revolutionizing the classroom experience for our students and educators alike.”

Partnerships to Support Smart Education – Samsung Canada is partnering with leading educational content and curriculum providers such as the National Film Board of Canada to offer school districts implementing Samsung School access to rich learning resources. In particular, Samsung partnered with Canadian-based SOTI to provide Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions to educational institutions. Using Samsung’s open APIs, SOTI has optimized its solution for managing large numbers of Samsung devices for one-to-one learning initiatives. Already operational at more than two dozen districts across the U.S. and Canada, SOTIMobiControl allows schools to easily deploy and update applications, scan and protect against viruses, and filter inappropriate web access on school grounds. Samsung Canada has also partnered with Advanced Education [3], Canada’s premier classroom technology provider for the K-12 education market, to facilitate the commercial purchase process.

Samsung School will be on display at the San Antonio Convention Center, Booth #9186, from June 24-26 alongside the company’s full line-up of education products and solutions.
