DHX Media Announces Multiple SVOD License Deals

dhx mediaDHX Media Ltd. has announced several digital deals including a major deal with new, dedicated children’s subscription video on demand (SVOD) service Kidoodle.TV. Kidoodle.TV licensed up to 800 hours of DHX Media’s premium and catalogue titles for its North American service, which is set to launch in Summer 2013, including Inspector Gadget, Strawberry Shortcake, Busytown Mysteries, Bo on the GO!, Franny’s Feet and Rastamouse.

“The License agreement with DHX Media strengthens the Kidoodle.TV offering with one of the largest children’s video libraries of high quality popular branded titles,” said Dan Lowe, CEO of a Parent Media Co. Inc., owner of Kidoodle.TV. “We look forward to the North American launch of Kidoodle.TV, providing a safe and meaningful on-demand experience for children and families.”

Additionally, Nordisk Film Production has licensed the SVOD rights to international hit, Inspector Gadget, non-exclusively in the Nordic territory; while Watchever, the Vivendi company that recently launched a SVOD service in Germany, has licensed various DHX Media titles, such as Franny’s Feet and Hurray for Huckle to join other DHX Media shows already existing on the platform.

In India, Qwik Entertainment has licensed over 225 half hours of programming for its SVOD service. Titles include kid classics The Adventures of Paddington Bear and Dennis the Menace.

In South Africa, Triplay Digital Content has licensed a number of shows for DSTVO for VOD broadcast, including Caillou, Arthur and Mona the Vampire.
