Chillingo and Samsung Announce 100% Indie Developer Program

mini-orbyMobile game publisher EA Chillingo and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. have announced a partnership to fuel the mobile games developer community and provide unparalleled revenue opportunities. Spearheaded by Chillingo founders, Chris Byatte and Joe Wee, 100% Indie aims to inspire, foster and support indie developers around the world. Starting on March 4, developers can visit the site and submit their games for consideration to Samsung’s mobile apps marketplace, Samsung Apps.

The “100% Indie” team will review all games to ensure they meet Samsung Apps standards, and once approved, guide developers through the process of bringing their games to market. The portal will include resourceful tools, inspiring articles and information to encourage and motivate developers to create incredible games.

“100% Indie” allows developers to tap into the phenomenal growth that Samsung is experiencing. Publishing games on Samsung Apps through this initiative will provide developers with the most competitive pre-negotiated revenue share in the industry. Developers who join the program in the first six months will receive 100 percent revenue for their title, and are guaranteed higher revenue share rates until March 2015.

Revenue Share Schedule:

  • 100% revenue from March 4, 2013 – September 3, 2013
  • 90% revenue share from September 4, 2013 – March 3, 2014
  • 80% revenue share from March 4, 2014 – March 3, 2015
  • 70% revenue share after March 4, 2015

Revenue share will be net of any applicable payment gateway and/or carrier charges.

“Samsung continues to diversify the applications we offer on Samsung Apps, and 100% Indie is the latest example of that commitment,” said project manager of Samsung, Juyeon Lee. “Through 100% Indie, Chillingo is the right partner to help us tap into the creativity of the indie community and ensure we are bringing the best games to Samsung devices around the world.”

“With over 10 years’ heritage in the mobile gaming space, we uniquely understand what drives and motivates the game makers of today,” said Chris Byatte, founder of Chillingo.

“Making a game is hard. Developers are looking for inspiration and opportunities. ‘100% Indie’ is designed to help independent developers take full advantage of these amazing revenue opportunities and bring their games to Samsung Apps,” added Joe Wee, founder of Chillingo.
