The Canadian Cloud Council Announces Final “Cloud Matters” Agenda

Canada Cloud CouncilThe Canadian Cloud Council is pleased to announce the final agenda for the association’s third national conference “Cloud Matters” on March 11 and 12, 2013 at the Rimrock Resort in Banff, Alberta, Canada. The cCc is the only Canadian national cloud industry body and is actively involved in Canadian cloud policy making, ecosystem development and community building. “Cloud Matters” will feature 50 Canadian cloud evangelists, business leaders, investors and policy makers tasked with creating “Canada’s Cloud Globalization Action Plan”.

“Cloud Matters” like all Canadian Cloud Council events, promises to be engaging, divisive, passionate and controversial. Shane Schick, Editor at Expert IP and Former Editor-in-Chief at IT World Canada, called the association’s recent “Cloud Launch” event in Ottawa, Ontario “the most divisive conference in recent memory.”

“Cloud computing is an evolutionary continuum of the World Wide Web. It does not have borders and should not be treated as a guarded and protective “national domain”, commented the Canadian Cloud Council’s Founder and CEO Robert Hart. “What the cloud does provide is an agile, infinitely scalable mechanism for global socio-economic development, industry diversification and technology commercialization. Our political leaders and policy makers need to introduce forward thinking legislation to support these mechanisms, and ensure the accelerated development of an open, democratized and cloud ecosystem – one that supports innovation from the small-medium enterprise. Our global competitive position depends on it,” concluded Hart.

“Cloud Matters” will focus on four major key focus areas: The Nexus of Cloud, Social Media, Mobile Computing and Big Data; Government Cloud and Shared Services Policy Development; Cloud Entrepreneurship and Global Cloud Privacy. Robert Herjavec, CEO of Herjavec Group and Star of CBC’s “Dragon’s Den” and ABC’s Shark Tank is opening the event which also features keynote presentations from Chris C. Kemp, CEO of Nebula and Co-Founder of Open Stack; Wayne Walls, Chief Cloud Strategist at Rackspace; Jeff Barr, Senior Director Cloud Computing at Amazon Web Services; Peter Coffee, VP/CTO and Head of Platform Research at Salesforce.com; Saeed Amidi, Founder and CEO Plug and Play Tech Center; and Kate Rozmahel, Corporate Chief Information Officer at the Government of Alberta. The event’s proud title sponsor is HP.
