Interactive Ontario Welcomes New President And CEO

Interactive Ontario [1]The Interactive Ontario [1] Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Donald Henderson has been appointed to the position of President & CEO of the organization. As a veteran of the interactive media industry, Donald brings a wealth of valuable industry knowledge and leadership experience to this role.

Donald has previously served as Chief Operating Officer at each of Bedlam Games and Groove Media, and is currently the Vice President, Legal and Business Affairs and General Counsel of bitHeads Inc. He has been credited on a number of video game titles on various platforms and was the studio’s interactive producer on the Gemini-nominated Lost Girl transmedia project. He was also recently an instructor in the EDGE: Education for Digital and Games Entrepreneurs program offered by IO in conjunction with Ryerson University.

“The Board of Directors is thrilled to have Don leading the Interactive Ontario team. His experience and guidance will allow IO to build its capacity as a key driver in supporting the ongoing growth of Ontario’s successful interactive media industry,” said Board of Directors Chair Mark Bishop.

“I am extremely excited about the opportunity to lead such an important organization,” said Mr. Henderson. “Over the past several years, I have seen IO affirm its position as the voice of interactive companies in Ontario. Interactive Ontario has experienced great success with its first-class conferences and programming including GameON: Finance, INplay, X Summit and the iLunch series, which just completed its tenth year. I want to build on this history of success and ensure that we continue to find new ways to deliver value for our stakeholders.”

Interactive Ontario’s Board of Directors extends its gratitude to Vice President and General Manager Max Berdowski for taking on an expanded role in the transitional period over the last several months. Max will now be in charge of business development for Interactive Ontario.

Interactive Ontario will be electing its Board of Directors for the upcoming year at its Annual General Meeting to be held tonight, at the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto.
