Poynt Brings Much Anticipated Gas Feature to Canadian Users

poyntPoynt Corporation has announced that the Company has launched its gas search feature  on the Poynt mobile local search and advertising platform for users in Canada. The new gas search feature allows users to find the closest gas stations or best prices in their local area. Additionally, Poynt users will be able to quickly update current gas prices where prices have fluctuated.

Poynt Corp. has partnered with GasBuddy to bring the highly requested gas prices feature to their Canadian users. Gas prices fluctuate rapidly and GasBuddy relies on user generated content to provide accurate gas prices. The GasBuddy database has over 10,864 listings in Canada and gas prices are removed if they haven’t been updated for 24 hours in order to ensure that prices displayed are accurate.

As an added feature, users can now view the gas prices in their area as pins on a map. If users would like to view gas prices in the direction they are travelling, they can easily pan the map and refresh the prices. Additionally, users can click on the ‘Best 5’ button to immediately highlight the 5 cheapest prices in their area.

“GasBuddy provides a community for users to share information on local gas prices and we are happy to have Poynt Corp. become a partner in this,” said Dustin Coupal, VP and Co-founder, GasBuddy. “Gas prices are volatile and can vary significantly within a few blocks. User generated content can help people find great local deals on gas and stick to their tight budgets.”

“Users in Canada have been asking for local gas prices since we launched this popular search vertical in the United States,” said Andrew Osis, CEO, Poynt Corp. “Improving our data sources and adding additional popular features increases user retention, stimulates user queries and helps drive revenues.”

The new version of Poynt featuring gas prices is immediately available as a free download in the Canada on iPhone, Windows Phone, and Nokia devices along with BlackBerry smartphones and BlackBerry Playbook tablet, from the respective App Stores. Poynt is also available via Over-the-Air download at m.poynt.com.
