NCI Acquires YourPrivacy

nci [1]IT security services provider NCI [1] has acquired YourPrivacy [2], a consulting organization that helps Canadian enterprises comply with privacy regulations. YourPrivacy brings complementary strengths to NCI’s comprehensive suite of governance, risk and compliancy services (GRC); payment card industry (PCI) data security standard validation assessments; and IT security solutions.

YourPrivacy was founded in 2002 to address a growing need by organizations to implement best practices and processes to protect their customer’s personal information. The company focused on compliancy with privacy legislation; the nature and use of personal information in customer research and health studies; privacy breach investigations; and, records management.

“YourPrivacy has a great reputation in the IT security industry, and is known for its experience and knowledge on all issues related to governance, risk and compliance. We’ve worked with YourPrivacy on several occasions and were always impressed by the quality of work being done,” says Danny Timmins, CEO of NCI. “Through this acquisition we have strengthened our governance and risk practice, and bolstered our team with dedicated experts in this area. The acquisition also provides our clients with a single, end-to-end resource that can help them establish a comprehensive strategy to manage all critical areas of IT security.”

Mario Morel, YourPrivacy founder and president, will be joining the NCI executive team in the role of Chief Architect. At YourPrivacy, Morel leveraged his expertise and influence to advocate for the use of quantitative risk analysis methods with privacy and security risk assessments. Under his leadership, YourPrivacy developed corporate strategies that have enabled enterprises to transition from the “Information Age” to an “Age of Interactions”. Morel’s novel approach has been detailed in his book, “Managing Personal Information: Insights on Corporate Risk and Opportunity for Privacy-Savvy Leaders”, which will be released in the spring by publisher Carswell.

“As companies look to develop a better security posture, they will benefit from having access to a single partner that can cover the entire spectrum of security, privacy and risk,” explains Morel. “NCI has established itself as strategic partner for any enterprise with IT security needs and, through this acquisition, is poised to become one of the top service providers in this growing information market. I’m excited to be joining the NCI team and look forward to building on their success in the marketplace.”

NCI’s IT security portfolio is comprised of consulting services, solutions integration and a security managed service offering. Its consulting service incorporates PCI, governance, risk and compliancy, and includes penetration testing, vulnerability and risk assessment. NCI’s solutions integration service includes architectural reviews, installation and support of best-of-breed IT security solutions. The company’s managed service includes analysis, configuration, setup, alerts and 24×7 systems management of a number of IT security vendor solutions. NCI has played an important role in helping to secure most of the top police agencies in Canada; assuring security for Canada’s major municipalities; and, safeguarding IT at Canada’s prestigious universities.
