Game Design Expo 2012 Industry Speaker Day Is Sold Out

[1]Entertainment arts educational institution Vancouver Film School [2] (VFS) has announced that tickets have sold out for the sixth annual Game Design Expo [1] Industry Speaker Day, which takes place at the Vancity Theatre on January 21st. The Game Design Campus Open House on January 22nd is expected to fill to capacity. Those interested are advised to register soon [1].

Game Design Expo is a unique weekend of presentations and networking, beginning with Industry Speaker Day on Saturday, January 21. This year, seven presenters from Canada and the U.S. will take the podium. Speakers include Bruce Nesmith, Director of Design on multi-award-winning The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim –the newest RPG from 2011 Studio of the Year winner at the Spike TV Video Game Awards, Bethesda Softworks. Emmanuel Lusinchi, Associate Lead Designer at BioWare Austin, will discuss BioWare’s hotly-anticipated MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic. With both games receiving wide acclaim and attention, it comes as no surprise tickets sold out quickly.

Game enthusiasts still have an opportunity to hear from successful alumni and industry professional faculty at the free, day-long Game Design Open House on January 22. VFS is throwing open its doors to its 88 East Pender Street campus for the first time, offering aspiring designers and the public an inside look at the VFS student experience. Visitors with have the opportunity to test-drive student- and alumni-created games, take sample classes, and meet faculty and students.

“I think the fact that we have sold out our Game Design Expo’s speaker day again is a testament to the amazing people that come to share their games and their design ideas with our gaming community every year,” says Dave Warfield, Head of Game Design at VFS. “Although Industry Speaker Day is sold out, there is still a chance to learn more about game design by attending our Open House and sitting in on our mini-classes.”
