Comwave Announces New Executive to Lead Business Division

comwavePrivately-owned telecommunications company Comwave announced yesterday that Ted Chislett, the former CEO, COO and President of Primus Telecommunications (Canada) will join the corporation’s executive team in January.

“We are fortunate to have someone of Ted’s caliber and experience to lead our new B2B strategies,” said Barzakay.  “Comwave has been extremely successful in the consumer space and now with our latest acquisitions we are positioning for growth within the business segment.  Ted is an accomplished telecom executive, with strong leadership skills that have earned him respect from the industry and employees.  I’m confident he will guide and implement our strategies well.”

“I am excited to join Comwave and believe we can build compelling solutions that businesses need and can afford,” said Chislett.  “Comwave is a great brand to execute these strategies very well throughout Canada.”

During his 12 year leadership of Primus, he oversaw its growth from under $15 million in annual revenue to becoming the largest alternative telecommunications carrier in Canada with over 1 million customers and $300 million in revenue.  Ted also ran his own consulting company including assignments as President for a start-up IPTV company where he led their business plan development and obtained a CRTC broadcast cable license, and assisted competitive telecom service providers on expansion into the CLEC local phone business.

Ted founded and led VisionTel, a reseller of long distance services.  Previously he was the Vice President of Research and Development for Rogers Cablesystems Engineering, and later started Rogers Communications Network Services as Vice President and General Manager.  Ted Chislett holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business (University of Western Ontario) and an Engineering Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
