Telefilm Canada, the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC), the High Commission of Canada, New Delhi, the Consulate General of Canada, Mumbai and the Canadian Media Production Association (CMPA) are proud to activate the Audiovisual Coproduction Treaty with India, which came into effect in July 2014, with a delegation of 14 Canadian producers taking part in the 4th Forum of the Canada-India Business Council, November 17 to November 19 in Mumbai, and at the 8th Film Bazaar, November 20 to November 24 in Goa. At the same time as this mission is in progress, the 45th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), running November 20 to November 30, will present five Canadian films. The Canadian Interactive Alliance / L’alliance interactive canadienne (CIAIC) has released Monetizing Digital Media: Trends, Key Insights and Strategies that Work, an examination of recent trends and key models being used to monetize digital media content. The study was conducted by Communications MDR and authored by Maria De Rosa and Marilyn Burgess, with the support of the Canada Media Fund (CMF), the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC), the Bell Fund, the National Film Board (NFB) and Canadian Heritage. Telefilm Canada is proud to announce that Canadian film will be in the spotlight at the 3rd Los Cabos International Film Festival (CIFF) in Mexico from November 12 to 16. Mommy by Xavier Dolan will unspool as a gala screening; Canadian directors Atom Egoyan and Denys Arcand will be honoured with screenings of two of their classic films; Tu dors Nicole (Stéphane Lafleur), Trois histoires d’Indiens (Robert Morin)and Violent (Andrew Huculiak) will be in official competition; Piers Handling, Director and CEO of the Toronto International Film Festival, will be a juror; and a Canadian delegation will take part in the first Mexico-United States-Canada Coproduction Forum. The Canada Media Fund announced today that 6 convergent productions have been awarded $2.5M from the second round of funding of the Francophone Minority Program which supports productions that reflect the realities and interests of French communities outside of Quebec. A preferred proponent has been selected for the Emily Carr University of Art + Design campus redevelopment project, marking an important step toward a new home for the university at Great Northern Way. Applied Arts Team and its design partners have been selected as the preferred proponent that will enter into final negotiations with Emily Carr University of Art + Design to deliver the project. Premier Christy Clark was joined by local technology entrepreneurs today to mark the beginning of construction on the much-anticipated Okanagan Centre for Innovation, a leading edge technology centre for the region. With the site fenced and excavated, shovels have officially hit the ground. The foundation for the six-storey, 9,850 square-metre (106,000 square-foot) centre is scheduled to be laid in mid-November and construction completed by early 2016, creating about 500 construction jobs in the process. The first full-service online marketplace of its kind, Voices.com has been awarded funding from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) through the Investing in Business Growth and Productivity (IBGP) initiative. It was formally announced yesterday that Voices.com will be embarking on a $3.6 million project to accelerate growth and job creation by supporting their markets, facilities, and technology. IBGP supports businesses that have global potential and that are pursuing innovative opportunities, which positively impacts economic development. This is the first Canadian project of its kind.
