Cackleberries Entertainment, a studio we first told you about in 2009, is set for official launch. Eight years in the making, Cackleberries is the vision of Coquitlam, BC mom Eronne Foster, who wanted to build a virtual world around teaching kindness, empathy, honesty and loyalty – along with a few school subjects. With the opening of its new studio in Florida, Digital Domain is on the lookout for exceptional talent. Recruiters will be visiting Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver (as well as several locations across the USA). The Legend of Tembo is currently in pre-production at the brand new Tradition Studios, a state-of-the-art, 120,000 square foot facility in South Florida. Some of the job openings require immediate placement, while others need to be filled by summer and fall. On a side note, Digital Domain also has several career positions open in its Vancouver studio. Quebecor Media is proud to join forces with Saguenay entrepreneurs to form a new Quebec video game company called BlooBuzz – the domain was registered on Webnames.ca two days, but there is no site up yet. On the strength of Quebecor Media’s majority stake, BlooBuzz will be developing casual gaming titles to take advantage of this rapidly growing market, especially on mobile platforms. GameHouse, the gaming division of RealNetworks, has announced that the company is expanding its social game studio to a new office at 712 Yates in Victoria, where it aims to double its staff to at least 45 people by the end of 2012. GameHouse Canada takes an indie approach to game production, encouraging designers to express their creative freedom during game development. The new downtown studio opens on January 16th and will offer its staff several perks including an open and collaborative working environment, a plush gaming and entertainment lounge, creative Fridays, and more.
