Animatrik Film Design Introduces SolidTrack

AnimatrikBurnaby’s Animatrik Film Design has announced the expansion of its Virtual Production services offerings through the addition of the first Solid Track system in North America. Animatrik is further enhancing its SolidTrack system with Ultimatte Real-time Chroma keying; Encodacam lens encoders from General Lift; and two high performance Autodesk MotionBuilder systems. The result will deliver a solution capable of visualizing CG characters, sets and props in real-time, with support for camera zooms and minimal latency while shooting live action. Nominees Revealed For Game Connection America 2014′s Selected Projects

game connection europeGame Connection has unveiled the list of yet unsigned game projects nominated for the prestigious American Selected Projects 2014. Competition was fierce this year with more than 200 submitted projects. On the morning of 17th March at the Selected Projects Awards Ceremony, each of the 15 nominees will have 5 minutes to pitch their project in front of all publishers, distributors and buyers at Game Connection America. The jury will then award 2014′s “Overall Best Project” from amongst the hugely impressive and varied, international array of entries – based on presentation quality, project innovation and market potential. The accolade of “Overall Best Project” is sponsored by Namco Bandai Games, while Microsoft Studios supports the “Best Console & PC Hardcore” Category. In addition, this year Develop has been announced as the official media partner of the initiative, giving even more visibility to nominees and winners. Canada Media Fund Awards 6.5 Million In Funding To Twenty-Seven New Interactive Digital Media Projects

Canada Media Fund A total of 27 new interactive digital media projects have received a combined total of $6.5 million as part of the Canada Media Fund’s (CMF) Experimental Stream second round of funding for development and marketing support. Eight of those projects will receive a total of $1.6 million for Marketing Support, while $4.9 million will provide Development Support to 19 game, interactive content platform and social media projects. Bot Colony With Natural Language Understanding Technology Now Available

north sideBot Colony, the first game to use conversational English as the primary way to interact with characters, was launched today by Montreal game developer North Side Inc. An Open Alpha version is publicly available and can be downloaded from the Bot Colony site for $2.95. Bot Colony leverages a technological breakthrough in Natural Language Understanding (NLU), a problem scientists have been trying to solve for many years. Natural Language Understanding (NLU) is technical jargon for computer understanding of human language (English in the case of Bot Colony). The characters in Bot Colony understand what the player says, and are often able to respond in a cogent manner.
