PEER 1 Hosting Launches Its Enterprise-Class Public Cloud in the U.S.

Peer 1PEER 1 Hosting announced today that it is launching its recently released enterprise-class VMware public cloud solution, Mission Critical Cloud, in New York City, Seattle, Chicago and Salt Lake City. These new locations add to existing Mission Critical Cloud availability in Canada, the UK and Germany. PEER 1 is also introducing Magento-Optimized Build Blueprints for Mission Critical Cloud eCommerce customers.

Blueprints are cloud environment templates selected from the Blueprints Marketplace or custom built, which automatically deploy complex applications. Once a solution is saved as a Blueprint, customers can launch that same configuration in a new deployment again and again – in every detail. Even the most advanced environments can be replicated with a single click, from the OS, to the database, to the application, as well as any needed custom scripts.

Developed in close collaboration with Magento’s engineering team, the new Magento-Optimized Build Blueprints allow Mission Critical Cloud customers to deploy the same optimized solution that PEER 1 Hosting offers on managed hosting, but in a completely automated fashion in the public cloud. The result is a turnkey solution that delivers infrastructure honed to meet Magento’s rigorous requirements with minimal chance of human error. By leveraging these new Blueprints, customers are able to deploy Magento-optimized hosting environments in less than an hour, saving time and money.

Additional new features of Mission Critical Cloud include:

  • Autoscaling – Allows users to automatically add or subtract CPUs for virtual servers based on usage
  • Additional self-service features – Customers can create and manage advanced network configurations in Mission Critical Cloud with load balancers and site-to-site VPNs
  • Server resource addition support – Enables customers to add additional CPU and memory without a server reboot
  • Improved credit card processing – Helps reduce fraud, simplify billing and support PCI compliance

“We saw an existing gap in the market for a true enterprise-class solution, and believe the expansion of this offering to four additional datacenters is indicative of the strong interest in Mission Critical Cloud,” said Robert Miggins, SVP business development at PEER 1 Hosting. “This product isn’t just useful for our existing private cloud VMware customers that want to move to a public cloud, but also new SMB and enterprise customers that have been waiting for an enterprise-level public cloud environment. In fact, a majority of Mission Critical Cloud users are new to PEER 1 Hosting. By bringing Mission Critical Cloud to four additional datacenter locations, we hope to further the promise of choice for our customers, which, in the end, means a better result for them.”

“While concerns over security and reliability have prevented enterprises from moving production workloads to the cloud, the growing availability of technologies in areas of security, quality of service, and manageability has helped cloud providers build trust in the public cloud environment,” said Agatha Poon, research manager, global cloud computing at 451 Research. “Offerings like PEER 1 Hosting’s Mission Critical Cloud, designed to ensure the optimal performance of applications and services running in the cloud, are instrumental in leading public clouds to mainstream corporate culture.”
