Frank Siracusa, President and CEO of Whizbang Films and John Weber President and CEO of Take 5 Productions have announced that their next project Reign has been ordered to production for a twelve episodes series to begin shooting in Toronto at the end of July. The one-hour drama adds a second series to the Whizbang/Take 5 partnership now poised to generate more than $100 million in production volumes in Canada in the upcoming year. We survived the drive up here – no thanks to more than a few inconsiderate and downright poor drivers on the road. The stopover Friday night at the Maverick Motor Inn in Kamloops was nice, and gave us a refreshing start to the second leg of our drive up here to Banff. I am amazed that some of the sections of the Trans Canada we traversed have not been named as the Worst Road Sections in Canada, because some of those potholes could be deadly, especially through Rogers Pass. Premier digital content strategists and creators Daniel Dales and Jarrett Sherman are announcing the launch of Digital Howard, an interactive entertainment company focused on creating and producing extraordinary 360 degree entertainment experiences for audiences on all platforms. Digital Howard specializes in expanding conventional intellectual property onto digital platforms, working with IP owners at any point along the curve, from the initial stages of development through production and exploitation. Dales and Sherman founded Smokebomb in 2008 and were quickly acquired by television prodco Shaftesbury to become their in-house digital studio. iPad users can now discover the genius of animation pioneer Norman McLaren and find out how their artistic skills compare to his, using his creative tools and techniques to make and share new works of their own.
