Webtech Wireless Inc. , a Vancouver-based provider of vehicle fleet location-based services (LBS) and telematics technology, today announced the release of its MDT 3100 In-Cab mobile data terminal, version 2.5 with new capabilities enabling enhanced truck navigation. In partnership with ALK Technologies, a New Jersey-based specialist in GeoLogistics™ and navigation software, Webtech Wireless is offering ALK Technologies’ CoPilot® Truck™ in-cab navigation solution as part of the MDT 3100 and Quadrant Manager.
Ideal for any size of fleet, this release provides a safer alternative for trucking companies than purchasing off-the-shelf consumer GPS navigation systems, because it provides truck-specific on-board navigation. CoPilot Truck navigation is an industry-leading truck-specific GPS routing solution designed to provide reliable and safe navigation on truck-legal roads. Combined with the MDT 3100, drivers can configure unique profiles based on truck dimensions and types of cargo (such as hazard materials) to route them around commercial truck restrictions and, as a result, avoiding costly fines and vehicle damage.
“In addition to providing extra ease of use and safety features with this release, our partnership with ALK Technologies is in step with the US Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) initiative to ensure trucking companies only use GPS navigation systems intended for use by trucking companies and professional drivers, consistent with our goal of providing Fleet Intelligence Anywhere®,” said Scott Edmonds, President and CEO of Webtech Wireless.
This new release of the MDT 3100 also includes automatic driver provisioning, HOS support for Canada and US cross border rules, and an automatic driver change and logoff feature.
The MDT 3100 with CoPilot Truck is available for immediate delivery.
