Postmedia Network Announces Full Market Launch Of Digital Access Subscriptions

postmedia networkPostmedia Network, Canada’s largest publisher by circulation of paid English-language daily newspapers, has announced the extension of paid digital subscription bundles across all its newspaper websites. Readers will be able to choose from a variety of subscription options to continue enjoying unlimited access to Postmedia’s award-winning journalism on each of its newspaper websites.

“Newspapers around the world are realizing you can’t spend millions of dollars on content and give it away for free,” said Paul Godfrey, President and CEO, Postmedia Network. “We believe that readers will choose the best subscription option for them and pay for access as long as we continue to invest in the premium content, insight and commentary they have come to expect from their favourite newspaper brands.”

Postmedia’s valued print subscribers will receive free access to their print newspaper’s website. Non-print subscribers can choose from a number of subscriptions including the All Access bundle, the Digital Access bundle or the ePaper.

  • The All Access bundle includes print home delivery and unlimited access to the newspaper website plus the newspaper apps for smartphones and tablets providing readers with the most comprehensive package of news, special features and video galleries.
  • The Digital Access bundle includes unlimited access to the newspaper website and newspaper apps for smartphones and tablets.
  • The ePaper subscription is a page-by-page replica of the day’s printed newspaper including all stories, sections, photos and ads in PDF form. The ePaper translates into other languages, allows users to magnify for easier reading and share articles with friends.

Casual users will continue to enjoy free access to its digital content. Canadian users will be able to access 10 free articles and International users will be able to access five free articles every 30 days.

“Introducing a meter across all of our newspaper websites also allows us to gather more insights into our readers and their interests,” said Godfrey. “Getting to know our audiences better will help us to evolve our products to reflect what engages our readers and how they consume our content.”

Today’s launch is fully supported by a multi-faceted national marketing campaign, designed by Us Communications in Toronto. The campaign includes print, digital and out-of-home ads in all Postmedia markets. The innovative campaign – featuring the tag lines “In the know, anytime, anywhere with digital access”, “More to read, more to see with digital access”, and “More with digital access” – is being introduced with full-page wraps on all Postmedia print newspapers and select TV spots beginning this week.
