YTVCorus Entertainment’s YTV is launching a brand-new original competition show, Cache Craze, to debut on Saturday, March 9 at 6 p.m.  The 10 x 60-minute series is a high-octane family treasure hunt inspired by the global phenomenon of Geocaching—an emerging GPS-aided game where teams search for hidden caches. In each episode of Cache Craze, family teams of two search for virtual caches that can only be unlocked after they climb, crawl and jump through over-the-top outdoor obstacles. Among the teams competing in the crazy challenges are NHL star and on-air sports analyst Brad May and his 13-year-old daughter, Samantha.
Climbing the towering masts of a tall ship to release pigeons, diving into barrels of tar, leaning out of helicopters to aim watermelon bombs and rowing across treacherous waters near Niagara Falls—those are just some of the Explorer Challenges that the show’s two-person, teen-led teams must complete in order to reveal the hidden locations of the caches to score points and avoid elimination. Only one team will emerge victorious, take home a cash prize and score the Cache Craze trophy.

“Cache Craze is a new GPS adventure that brings teens and their families together using strategy, wit and fearless enthusiasm in a modern-day treasure hunt,” said Jocelyn Hamilton, Vice President, Original Programming, Kids, Comedy, Drama, Corus Entertainment. “The series not only gives viewers a chance to root for their favourite team during the 10-week competition, but will have them laughing hysterically throughout the outrageous stunts.”

Host and comedy star Ryan Horwood (Monster Warriors, Howie Do It), keeps the energy and laugh factor high by orchestrating the action and cheering the players on. The series takes place across a variety of unique locations such as a forest, an amusement park, an old heritage fort and a downtown city block.

“Geocaching has quickly captivated adventure seekers of all ages, the world over. We are delighted to be working with YTV on this engaging new show, mixing geocaching with hilarious challenges,” said Vince Commisso, President and CEO, 9 Story Entertainment.

Produced by 9 Story in association with YTV, Cache Craze Executive Producers are Vince Commisso, Steven Jarosz and series Co-Creator Kate Rigg (Dance Your Ass Off, Gonzo Girls).   Series Producer is Barry Davis (Survive This).
