Voxeo Labs And Layer 7 To Demo Joint Solution At Mobile World Congress 2013

layer7 [1]California-based Voxeo Labs and Vancouver’s Layer 7 Technologies [1] have announced their joint solution of Voxeo Labs’ Tropo and Phono APIs with Layer 7’s API Management platform. Layer 7 will be demonstrating the joint solution at their Mobile World Congress stand in the App Planet area, Hall 8.1 Booth A47.

“This turnkey solution is important for two reasons,” explained Jason Goecke, CEO of Voxeo Labs, “it demonstrates Tropo and Phono are complementary to API management, and enables our customers to get to market faster and at lower cost through our joint solution. We are proud to be working with Layer 7; the highest ranking vendor in the 2013 Forrester Wave for API Management [2].”

“Carriers are embracing APIs as a vehicle to enable the App economy. Tropo from Voxeo Labs gives Telcos a way to inject voice and text services directly into the Apps that will drive consumer and business innovation.” said Dimitri Sirota, CMO of Layer 7. “Layer 7’s API Management platform provides Tropo customers a carrier grade way of managing the APIs and presenting the APIs to both consumer and enterprise developer communities.”

The joint solution demonstrates how easily Tropo and Phono APIs can be published, managed and secured using the Layer 7 API Gateway. At the Layer 7 stand at Mobile World Congress a demonstration of the joint solution shows how the Developer Portal allows frictionless provisioning and configuration of services, and how Layer 7’s security and policy control can be seamlessly added to Voxeo Labs’ APIs.

Tropo from Voxeo Labs enables developers to make and receive phone calls and text messages from any web or mobile application, using a simple web API and pay-as-you-go pricing. Tropo also offers voice recognition (in 24 languages), text to speech (with more than 70 voices), conferencing, even recording and transcription – all using the web technologies and languages they already know. Check it out at Tropo.com [3]. Telcos such as AT&T [4] and Deutsche Telekom [5] have deployed their own instance of Tropo that is built for the Telco cloud, tightly integrated into their network, and backed by the innovation power of Voxeo Labs 150,000 member strong developer community.

Phono is a simple jQuery plug-in that turns any web browser on fixed or mobile devices into a WebRTC enabled multi-channel communications platform, capable of placing and receiving telephone and video calls from the browser, as well as handling real-time chat communications and beyond. Phono is a pure client-side solution and requires zero server-side logic on the part of a developer; all communication is handled transparently by Voxeo Labs. Phono is also 100% extendable and royalty free – use it in your existing web and mobile applications, it’s designed to be “skinnable” and flexible to support any brand. See it in action or try it yourself at Phono.com [6] and at the AT&T Foundry at att.io [7].

The Layer 7 API Management Suite is a turnkey solution that provides Telcos with everything they need in order to securely expose contextual, content and service APIs to partners and developers, onboard, manage and foster developer communities, and facilitate the building, testing and rollout of third?party applications. Available as an on-premise or hosted solution, the API Management Suite is ideally suite to Service Providers that need to better manage and empower their internal and external application partners.
