Camcloud Launches Cloud Video Monitoring Service

camcloud [1]Camcloud [1], an innovative provider of cloud video monitoring services for homes and small businesses, today announced that it has closed a private seed investment and opened a development office in Ottawa. The new resources will allow Camcloud to accelerate its product development and significantly increase its market reach.

“Our focus is to bring the simplicity and security of cloud services to the home and small business video monitoring market,” said Brendan Harrison, Camcloud co-founder and CEO. “Most solutions today are expensive, require long contracts and proprietary hardware. Our service makes video monitoring open, cost-effective and flexible for home and small business users.”

The Camcloud platform allows users to setup a webcam monitoring system [2] with a few clicks of a mouse, and provides capabilities such as motion detection, video archiving in the cloud, and email alerts. Users have been raving about its ease-of-use, with some describing the service as “CamWOW”.

“Our product development plan is focused on accelerating our feature rollout to further differentiate our offering in the market,” said Dan Burkett, Camcloud co-founder and CTO. “Deep mobile integration, expanded IP camera support, and improved video management are all enhancements planned for this year and we’re excited to get these capabilities to market.”

Camcloud offers a free plan that supports one camera and paid plans [3] as low as $5/month that provide additional camera support and video storage.
