Study Finds Digital Transformation Fuelling the Need for New Executive Skills

cwcGame Changers: Leadership in the Digital Age (PDF), a new study released today by Canadian Women in Communications (CWC), reveals a changing leadership paradigm in Canadian technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) sectors transformed by digital technologies. The consultation, which canvassed the views of 61 sector leaders across Canada and the U.S., found that traditional management skills, while still important, no longer assure success for executives or their organizations.

Digital transformation is fuelling the need for TMT leaders with the skills and attributes to lead innovation and work collaboratively across organizations and industries to create new digital products and services, executing in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.

“If we are to grow the ranks of senior women in today’s TMT sectors, it is critical to understand in-demand leadership skills in the digital context,” says Judith Campbell, Acting President of CWC. “For organizations and women seeking to advance their careers and stay ahead of the curve, this report holds vital strategic information.”

Game Changers: Leadership in the Digital Age was funded in part by Status of Women Canada and prepared by Digital Theory Media Consulting.
