Samsung Techwin and iWatchLife Partner to Bring Intelligent Home Video Monitoring to Consumers

iwatchlifeSamsungEarlier this week Samsung Techwin America and iWatchLife, an Ottawa-based  provider of smart, cloud-based video monitoring that enables consumers to See What Matters™ most to them, announced a partnership that brings additional value to owners of a Samsung SmartCam WiFi IP camera. Available now and designed specifically for the Samsung SmartCam, iWatchLife affords consumers the ability to bring their home monitoring to a whole new level.

“Samsung is always looking for ways to enhance the consumer’s experience, and this partnership gives us the ability to do exactly that,” said Mike Palazzolo, Vice President Sales and Marketing, consumer video monitoring and security products, Samsung Techwin America. “iWatchLife’s array of monitoring solutions adds even more depth to our SmartCam and is a service that brings unmatched flexibility and precision to consumer remote monitoring.”

With the optional iWatchLife service, consumers will now have the ability to:

  • Reduce the incidence of false alerts by setting up customized event detection areas called iWatch Zones
  • Record, store and intuitively search for video clips in the cloud
  • Receive real-time alerts and monitor video streams from any internet connected device such as a smartphone, tablet or smart TV
  • Save on internet streaming costs: iWatchLife uses bandwidth four times more efficiently than competing solutions
  • Privately and securely share camera views within designated circles such as friends and family

“The combination of Samsung’s feature-rich camera and our Smart Event Detection™ algorithm offers consumers an advanced, easy-to-use, home monitoring solution at an affordable price,” said Tom Leger, Vice President of Business Development at iWatchLife. “This partnership with Samsung enables consumers to take advantage of iWatchLife video monitoring technology to share video on all their devices, and create their own family broadcast network.”

With the ability to wirelessly connect to a home network, the Samsung SmartCam gives homeowners the ability to place the camera in any room and monitor activity remotely through their computer, smartphones or other mobile devices. Boasting unmatched ease-of-use, the Samsung SmartCam simplifies the process of pairing up a wireless device to a home network. Requiring no manual configuration by the consumer, the Samsung SmartCam takes what was once a cumbersome and confusing setup and boils it down to just the push of a button. Users simply locate the WPS button on the device and their home router, and with a click of each, the two will automatically sync and the camera will be added to the network in less than 30 seconds. Sleek and slim, the Samsung SmartCam can be placed nearly anywhere and also comes with a swiveling bracket which will allow it to be mounted to a wall and adjusted to ensure the user gets the shot required. The camera offers high-resolution video recording (640×480 / 30fps / H.264) and can even record events in the dark through the use of non-visible infrared LEDs (up to 15 feet).

Pricing for iWatchLife begins at $4.99 per month. The Samsung SmartCam WiFi IP camera retails for $149.99.
