Enhanced Local Search From Yellow Pages Group and Yahoo! Canada

Yahoo! Canadayellow pages groupYellow Pages Group (YPG) and Yahoo! Canada announced today that they have expanded their six-year partnership to provide Yahoo! Canada users with an enhanced local search experience. Yahoo! Canada users can get better, faster access to local search results, as well as details on local businesses including hours of operations, photos, videos, ratings and reviews – providing an improved experience for users who are looking for the information that’s most relevant to them based on their location.
“Yahoo! is focused on making the things we do everyday more delightful and entertaining, and certainly local search is a core daily experience,” said Gina Cothey, Senior Director of Audience, Yahoo! Canada. “We are pleased to extend our partnership with the Yellow Pages Group to help our users receive the relevant local search results and information they are looking for.”

Thanks to YPG’s YellowAPI technology, when Yahoo! Canada users search for local businesses or information, their results will be better organized based on their search history or location. The technology ensures users receive even more accurate local search results based on where they are, especially for Canadians searching for businesses—such as restaurants or coffee shops—located close to home or the office.

“YellowAPI contains a list of 1.5 M Canadian businesses and enhanced content on over 300,000 businesses who are participating advertisers, or where we have aggregated third-party content,” said Nicolas Gaudreau, Chief Marketing Officer, Yellow Pages Group.” By partnering with Yahoo! Canada, we significantly extend our advertisers’ reach on a platform that is outside of our network of properties. This is another milestone in our digital transformation as it shows the growing value of our cutting-edge digital solutions.”

Yahoo! users can perform a search and then click on the “Local” tab, which takes them to the customized page yahoo.yellowpages.ca. The page features Yahoo! Canada’s branding and a personalized mapping experience.
