DayZ Creator Dean Hall Announced As Gamercamp Festival International Keynote
Gamercamp is thrilled to announce that Dean Hall, creator of survival horror simulation DayZ, has been added to its stellar lineup as the festival’s International Keynote. Hall is the latest to join Gamercamp’s speaker lineup, which includes game industry heavyweights from across North America, including Pat Redding from Ubisoft Toronto (Splinter Cell Blacklist), Chris Harvey from DrinkBox Studios (Guacamelee), Vander Caballero from Minority Media (Papo & Yo), Mary De Marle from Eidos Montreal (Deus Ex: Human Revolution), among many others.
“Now in its fourth year, Gamercamp has been aggressively pursuing the best talent pushing the boundaries in the videogame culture and industry,” said Festival Director Jaime Woo in a statement. “The success and popularity of DayZ’s fresh take on the zombie game genre makes Dean Hall the perfect addition to this year’s festival.”
More than 1.3 million people have jumped into the horrifying world of DayZ, a modification based on ARMA II’s military simulation, which has been dubbed by Kotaku and Eurogamer as one of the best zombie games ever made. Players find themselves on an island with few resources and must do their best to survive while avoiding the attack-ready zombies wandering the land. The DayZ mod for ARMA II is available on Steam and the standalone version will be released in 2013.
Gamercamp takes place this November 3rd and 4th in Toronto. A variety of event passes are now on sale.
