The Digital Age According To Larry King

Board of Trade of Metropolitan MontrealThe Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal is pleased to announce that it will welcome legendary American radio and television host Larry King on Tuesday, October 23, at the Palais des congrès de Montréal, for a conference luncheon featuring leading experts in various fields. This event—entitled “The Digital Era and the Impact on our Society“—is co-organized by the Board of Trade and the World Congress on Information Technology 2012 (WCIT 2012).

“Montréal is a dynamic city with a major pool of qualified labour and international-calibre players in the field of ICT. As such, it is the ideal host for this event, and the Board of Trade takes pride in the fact that the WCIT 2012 has chosen to recognize the metropolitan region’s ability and talent,” stated Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.

“Last year, the Board of Trade offered the city’s business community the opportunity to learn how to integrate social media into its business strategies when it welcomed Chris Hughes, co-founder of Facebook, and Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter, to its International Leaders forum. This year, we are giving Montréal businesses a chance to grasp the full scope of the impact of using ICT and of the revolution it is causing on our way of working and of doing business, through live interviews with several leading global experts from several backgrounds, moderated by Larry King,” added Mr. Leblanc.

One of the greatest interviewers of modern times, Larry King came into prominence through his show Larry King Live, the world’s first call-in talk show, broadcast on CNN from 1985 to 2010. The author of 15 books, he wrote a regular column in USA Today for some twenty years, re-published as a blog in November 2008, and on Twitter in April 2009. Dubbed “the most remarkable talk-show host on TV ever” by TV Guide and “master of the mike” by TIME magazine, the winner of an Emmy Award, two Peabody Awards, and ten CableACE Awards, he joined the jury of the 2011 edition of Film Your Issue after stepping away from his TV program in 2010.

“Larry King, a communications icon, took advantage of information technology in order to innovate and establish himself within the industry. His presence here is an honour, and I would like to invite the business community to attend this event in great numbers to benefit from his vision of the present day world and to gain an understanding of the emerging trends that will shape our society of tomorrow,” concluded Mr. Leblanc.
