Bluedrop Performance Learning Opens Bluedrop Training And Simulation Centre In Halifax

BlueDropBluedrop Performance Learning Inc. has announced the grand opening of the Bluedrop Training and Simulation Centre (BTSC), in Halifax. This state of the art facility is designed to host and develop some of the world’s most advanced training and simulation technologies to address the operational and maintenance needs in civil and military aviation, as well as army and naval domains.

As announced on April 17th, 2012, the BTSC is being realized in part by the strong support received from the Government of Nova Scotia and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency. Bluedrop’s Bayer’s Lake Industrial Park location is the key site chosen to host this capability and the facility will initially employ approximately twenty highly skilled people with plans for significant growth over the next three years. The BTSC is a training technology collaboration centre that will leverage the best of global commercially available technologies, industry leading researchers and higher learning institution capability. It will marry these assets with aviation and defence expertise to provide modern civil and military operators, maintainers, and leaders with the very best training solutions in the industry. The facility will be a hub for other industry suppliers, partners and government agencies to provide globally advanced capabilities based in the Atlantic Region that will be exported worldwide.

“By making smart, strategic investments in projects like the Bluedrop Training and Simulation Centre, we are helping to make companies more globally competitive, innovative and productive. As part of Jobs Here, we are committed to growing the economy and creating good jobs,” said John MacDonell, acting minister of Economic and Rural Development and Tourism.

“Congratulations to Bluedrop on the grand opening of this facility, the first of its kind in Canada. Through this facility, Bluedrop will export aerospace and defence technology and expertise from Nova Scotia to markets around the world.”

“This investment by industry and government is exactly the kind of partnership we feel is needed to grow the defence and aerospace industry here in Atlantic Canada,” says Derrick Rowe, Bluedrop’s Chairman. “We are just so pleased to be here today to share this occasion with our funding partners, our customers, our industry colleagues and of course the full team who have worked to create this remarkable facility.”

Bluedrop is currently engaged with Canadian and international military forces and leading global defence companies through the provision of advanced training and simulation technologies. Headquartered in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Bluedrop employs over 120 personnel in Canada, including leading subject matter experts in air force, army, and naval domains with in-depth knowledge of the design and delivery of highly effective operational training.
