RewardGoals Launches A New Twist On Social Goal-Setting With Facebook

mini-orby [1]After several months of beta testing, Montreal’s RewardGoals [2] has launched a fun way to encourage friends to accomplish goals with the support of others. Available on the web and mobile devices, users can set goals for their friends, offer rewards as incentives to see them through and invite others to help support the goal.

“Sometimes, all people need is that extra little push from their friends. Meaningful and plentiful support can make all the difference,” said Jacob Shriar, co-founder of RewardGoals “We’ve designed the platform to make it easy for friends to participate and for users to reach positive outcomes.”rewardgoals on facebook [3]

How does it work? Users create goals for their friends, and optionally offer rewards as a motivator for attaining the goal. Friends who join-in on a particular goal are not obligated to offer rewards; they can simply show support by writing an encouraging message that gets posted to the activity feed.

“RewardGoals is awesome!” said Jesse Donavan, an early RewardGoals user. “It’s very encouraging to see your friends support you – I was totally motivated to make it. I didn’t expect the rewards to start growing that fast. That was pretty cool to see.”

RewardGoals was built on top of Facebook to allow for the goals to socialize quickly, enabling users to register and access their friends list easily. From there users just pick who they want to challenge to a goal and choose which friends to invite along for support. Facebook notifications are issued at different stages to make sure everyone involved with the goal is kept up to date about what is going on.

The goals and the rewards are user-defined so as to be as unique as possible. There is no limit as to what you can offer, but it is strongly discouraged to create anything that is illegal or that could potentially cause harm.
