Corus Entertainment‘s Movie Central (Western Canada) and Astral‘s The Movie Network (Eastern Canada) are pleased to unveil the original series, miniseries, specials and documentaries that have been greenlit for production in 2012/2013. The line-up includes: returning comedy favourites Call Me Fitz, Less Than Kind and Funny as Hell; prominent international co-productions The Heretics and Rogue; and documentaries and special presentations Altman, In Studio, the David Steinberg Documentary, The Reelside, Revolution: Sharkwater 2, Vincent Goes to Hell: An Alice Cooper Doc Opera and Water. In 1982, Montreal filmmaker Gabriel Hoss created, produced and directed the first episode of the original “How It’s Made” television series (in French “Comment c’est fait”). The pencils were the subject. Their detailed fabrication process was filmed inside the manufacturing plant. PBS in the United States as well as TVO, CFCF, Radio-Québec and CKCO in Canada were the first channels to broadcast this series, which pioneered the new “How It’s Made” TV series presently broadcast in approximately 180 countries, notably on the Discovery Channel and the Science Channel. The new series, produced by Maj Productions in Montreal, is based on Gabriel Hoss’ concept. Read the rest of this entry »

Corus Entertainment has announced Script to Screen, a new program partnership with Corus’ western-Canada pay TV service Movie Central and the Winnipeg-based National Screen Institute (NSI). Script to Screen will provide established and emerging Canadian screenwriters with robust funding, creative support and industry guidance to fully develop feature film concepts for film and television, from script to screen.
