Accessible Media Inc. Unveils Inaugural Scholarship Program

Accessible Media IncAccessible Media Inc. (AMI) has announced the launch of the first annual AMI Scholarships as part of the non-profit organization’s continuing mission to improve, increase and promote media accessibility for all Canadians. Starting this fall AMI will award two $5,000 scholarships per year to qualifying individuals, one of which will be reserved for a student with a permanent disability.

“We felt this was a tremendous opportunity for AMI to further strengthen its commitment to making media accessible to all Canadians and encourage sighted and able-bodied youth to give serious thought to the challenges many of their peers face on a daily basis,” explains Peter Burke, AMI Vice-President of Marketing and Communications.

Eligible students will be asked, in 500 words or less, to comment on this statement:

Please tell us how you think organizations can improve their accessibility and why this would be important for society.

The application deadline for this year’s awards is less than a month away – Tuesday, June 26 at 3 p.m. Eastern.
