TVOKids Homework Zone Makes Math Help Fun For Kids

tvo kidsWhat is the connection between a soccer ball and math? How can you calculate angles to help you get a hole in one on the golf course? And what does math have to do with a slam dunk in basketball? The TVOKids Homework Zone LIVE, which complements the Homework Zone website, will be taking important math concepts and making them fun on March 26 from 4 pm to 7 pm on air and from 4:55 pm to 7:30 pm at tvokids.com. After the on-air broadcast concludes, the learning and fun continues with a live, exclusive Homework Zone special on tvokids.com from 7 pm to 7:30 pm.

Math expert Troy Langevine, principal at Cosburn Middle School in Toronto, will join TVOKids host Dalmar, hosting live breaks between every TVOKids program (both on-air and online). They’ll share math tips and tricks with kids, inspire them to find math in everyday life and take email and phone questions from kids to help them solve all kinds of math problems. Kids can submit their questions anytime at tvokids.com, or call 1.888.886.5437 on the day of the broadcast.

This live and interactive TV and web event encourages grade-school kids to ask tough math related questions and discover the fun of math in everyday life.

“Math can be challenging for many kids and the live Homework Zone is the perfect forum to illustrate how these concepts work, using concrete examples and direct applications that make math learning accessible and fun. And the fact that we can go LIVE and answer kids’ questions in real time highlights yet again why TVOKids is unique,” says Patricia Ellingson, TVO’s Creative Head of Children’s Media.

The TVOKids Homework Zone is a one-of-a-kind online resource that aggregates TVO’s extensive inventory of curriculum-linked videos, games and activities to help kids practice math, science and literacy concepts they’ve learned in school. It is also a great secret weapon for parents who are looking for homework resources online, any time.
