tvo kidsKids will be swimming in fun facts and cool tips as TVOKids celebrates Canada Water Week (March 19-25) and UN World Water Day (March 22) with water-themed programs and online activities that teach kids about the importance of water. Kids will get tips on conserving water, they will be able to participate in an online water poll and quiz, and watch some of their favourite programs with water-themed episodes.

In Gisèle’s Big Backyard preschool programming block, Gisèle and her friends will have tips on the best practices for water conservation such as turning off the tap when brushing your teeth and not letting the tap keep dripping.

In The Space, TVOKids’ live and interactive afterschool programming block, hosts Kara and Drew will be talking to kids live on the phone all week about water conservation. And host Dalmar will report from a water treatment plant in Sudbury to teach kids about the water cycle.

On March 22 The Space welcomes very special guests Alex and Tyler Mifflin from the new six-part documentary series The Water Brothers , which will have its World Premiere on March 19 at 7 pm ET on TVO. Alex and Tyler will be on hand to answer kids’ water questions.

And throughout the TVOKids programming schedule during Water Week kids will find water-themed episodes of their favourite programs such as Wild Kratts, World of Wonders, Peppa Pig, Tinga Tinga Tales, Word World, Jack, Arthur and much, much more.

At tvokids.com the weekly web poll will be dedicated to water and the weekly web contest will ask kids how they conserve water. Daily and weekly prize winners will receive TVOKids water bottles to encourage kids to drink tap water and reduce the amount of plastic pollution from water bottles. Kids will also find a featured show page with water-related videos and learn more about our environment while having fun playing the Enviro Girl game and the My Canada Great Lakes game.

TVOKids Water Week activities are part of a larger TVO-wide Water Week initiative exploring the political, economic and environmental issues surrounding water quality and availability.

“As part of TVO’s exploration of the many issues around water, we’re excited to be bringing together an extensive toolkit of on-air and online resources that will engage even our youngest citizens in learning about how they can make a difference in conserving water in their own communities,” says Lisa de Wilde, TVO’s Chief Executive Officer.
