Title: Solving CPU Bottleneck in VDI deployments:
Synopsis: Ensuring top level performance in VDI deployments has proven to be challenging. Find out how the Teradici APEX 2800 server offload card helps reduce peaks in server CPU utilization and ensure a consistent user experience.
Presenter: Olivier Favre, director of product management, server solutions.
As mentioned above, the Teradici APEX 2800 server offload card [3] for VMware View™ deployments is now available. Designed to offload PCoIP image encoding from the server, the card seamlessly and dynamically switches image compression tasks as needed without the user noticing the switch.
By offloading the most active 64 displays, APEX 2800 creates virtual CPU headroom to ensure consistent application performance. Reducing peaks in CPU utilization by up to 50% and smoothing overall CPU demand provides a reliable and consistent level of experience regardless of the overall demand on server CPUs.
“The APEX 2800 PCoIP server offload card is the first card on the market for VMware View™ deployments with the ability to dynamically and seamlessly offload the most active 64 displays,” said Trent Punnett, vice president of marketing, Teradici. “We received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from beta testers and are excited to announce its general availability. The server offload card ensures the success of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) deployments by protecting and ensuring a consistent end user experience even during peak usage time.”
The APEX 2800 PCoIP server offload card is compatible with all PCoIP zero clients and VMware View™ software clients. It is fully integrated into the VMware vSphere® and managed by VMware View 4.6 or later.
“Teradici is dedicated to developing solutions that help our customers gain the most benefit from their VMware View™ VDI environments,” said Vittorio Viarengo, vice president, End-User Computing, VMware. “Integration of the Teradici APEX 2800 server offload card with VMware View further improves the efficiency of running virtual desktops on VMware View 5 and VMware vSphere® 5 while delivering a more consistent end-user experience.”
The Teradici APEX 2800 server offload card is the first Teradici product sold direct to end customers and is now available through worldwide distributors and resellers, including Dell S&P and HP 3PO websites as a peripheral at MSPR of $1,995-1,999 in the US.
