BeKnown App from Monster Helps Emerging Workforce Present and Share a Professional Identity on Facebook Timeline

Meeting the evolving needs of employers and today’s professionals, particularly the emerging workforce, Monster® has announced BeKnown™, the professional networking app, launched a new app for Facebook timeline®, enhancing the value of a BeKnown profile and making it easier to share individual and company profiles with friends.

Starting today, you can add the BeKnown app to your Facebook timeline to share your own educational and professional experience and also provide recommendations on schools and employers with friends.

Monster also debuted BeKnown in nine new countries – Indonesia, Thailand, Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar & Hong Kong. Combined with previous South East Asia & Middle East expansion in Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, BeKnown has increased its global footprint, with local jobs available in 49 countries.

“Social media networking is continuously growing as an integral part of the Canadian job search strategy which is why Monster is excited to introduce BeKnown features that not only benefit emerging workforce professionals (recent high school or University/College grads and workers aged 18-29) but also employers who are looking to connect and engage with their audience,” said Peter Gilfillan, senior vice president sales, US east and general manager of Monster Canada. “BeKnown’s value proposition continues to grow with the inclusion of new tools to meet the needs and demands of the emerging workforce. Along with BeKnown University/College Pages and Jobs Tab, we’ve introduced Education Profiles, and Top employers of alumni.”

A recent report produced by Social media monitoring service Reppler, surveyed more than 300 recruiters who were asked: “During the hiring process, which social networks do you use to screen candidates.” The Response: 76% said Facebook. For the emerging workforce who want to continue using Facebook to connect with friends while building a career identity, BeKnown gives people a way to publicly showcase their education and work experience to classmates, school alumni, teachers, and even potential employers, without revealing their social interactions or compromising their friend network.

“The Education Profiles on BeKnown offer emerging workforce professionals the opportunity to showcase their relevant education, test scores and highlight their skills,” Gilfillan added. “Recruiters and hiring managers are constantly turning to Facebook to screen candidates which can seem intimidating to graduates and students with little or no work experience. The Education Profiles provide BeKnown users with the opportunity to highlight their educational accomplishments, make connections and endorsements based on school performance rather than workforce performance, and create an open platform for growing student-student and student-educator professional relationships.”

Users and Companies may now claim a customized BeKnown Vanity URL for their public BeKnown profiles, which can be easily shared across the web and can boost visibility in search engines. Open Invitations let people express their preferred way to connect professionally by sharing an open BeKnown connection invitation on their Facebook timeline; Tweeting a status update; and private communication via Facebook Messages.

A new Recommend Button now lets BeKnown users recommend colleagues and companies they’ve enjoyed working with and schools they admire on Facebook (similar to Liking a Page) as a way to share their stamp of approval with Facebook friends. This boosts visibility for top pages and provides a ‘social signal’ to search engines to increase search relevance. Each of these visibility tools greatly increases the value of BeKnown profiles without compromising users’ control over their network and personal information.

Launched in June 2011, the BeKnown professional networking app is available in 19 languages in 49 countries and is also accessible for free via mobile apps on Android and iPhone devices.
