boast capitalBoast Capital, a firm that helps tech companies get government funding to advance innovation, is proud to announce that two of its partners, Lloyed Lobo and Alex Popa, were on teams that secured 2nd and 3rd place at Calgary Startup Weekend, the 54-hour event where developers, designers, marketers, product managers, and startup enthusiasts come together to share ideas, build teams, create products, and launch startups.
“It was a fun weekend, we met an excellent group of entrepreuners, and got some great insights from the mentors,” said Alex Popa, General Partner, Boast Capital, who was a part of EveryLittleDetail, an online bidding platform that enables brides to plan their dream wedding at the best value, which placed 3rd in the competition.

Around 40 ideas were pitched on Friday, of which six teams were selected. The next two days were filled with sheer grit and determination with each team working to refine their idea, create a business model, develop a product and present the final results to over 100 people.

“It was an experience of a lifetime working with 5 very intelligent teammates, each with a different skill set,” said Lloyed Lobo, General Partner, Boast Capital. Lloyed was a part of StartUpGauge.com, an interactive online platform that helps you validate your ideas via a Cash or Crash voting system and collborate with voters to build a team and take your idea further, which placed 2nd in the competition. “I would do it again next weekend!”
