Averna Wins Test and Measurement World 2012 Best in Test Award

avernaAverna, a Montreal-based developer of test solutions and services for communications and electronics device makers worldwide, has announced that the URT-5000 RF Signal Generator has been honored with Test & Measurement World magazine’s 2012 Best in Test award in RF/microwave test. The awards ceremony took place on January 31, in Santa Clara, CA, during the 2012 DesignCon show. The Best in Test Product Awards recognize innovations that have made an especially significant contribution to the test industry.

“It is an honor to be recognized by our peers and the editors of Test & Measurement World for the URT-5000, which we believe is a true step forward for our customers,” said Benoit Fleury, Vice-President Marketing for Averna. “We work hard to deliver the innovative and high-performance products that our customers demand – and this award showcases that dedication.”URT5000 wins best in test award

The URT-5000 is a state-of-the-art RF signal source that utilizes Averna protocol-specific signal generation toolkits and signal libraries to generate and impair common Navigation and Broadcast Radio signals for receiver design validation, testing, production and support. Complementing traditional signal generation, the URT-5000 supports RF playback of real-world conditions, often too complex to simulate, captured with the Averna Record & Playback field instrument

Patrick Mannion, Director of Content for T&MW, made the award presentation and noted, “If it weren’t for your perseverance and diligence, none of the technology we now take for granted would have made it past the prototyping board.”

Each year, finalists are selected from among the nominees by Test & Measurement World’s editors, after which Test & Measurement World’s engineering audience is invited to vote for the winners using an online ballot. Test & Measurement World then uses a combination of these audience votes and balloting by its editorial staff to determine the winners.
