Quebecor Media Invests in a New Saguenay Video Game Company

quebecorQuebecor Media is proud to join forces with Saguenay entrepreneurs to form a new Quebec video game company called BlooBuzz – the domain was registered on Webnames.ca two days, but there is no site up yet. On the strength of Quebecor Media’s majority stake, BlooBuzz will be developing casual gaming titles to take advantage of this rapidly growing market, especially on mobile platforms.

“Quebecor Media’s participation in this project reflects our will to contribute to the development of Quebec champions in a cutting edge sector where Quebec know-how has up until now been mostly showcased by foreign studios operating here,” declared Quebecor, Quebecor Media and Sun Media Corporation President and CEO, Mr. Pierre Karl Péladeau.

To manage BlooBuzz, Quebecor Media will rely on eight entrepreneurs with a solid background in the video game industry, acquired at Saguenay-based Wendigo Studios whose Timebuilders franchise saw its first two editions (Pyramid Rising and Caveman’s Prophecy) downloaded over 2 million times.

“At Wendigo Studios, we demonstrated that it was possible, in Saguenay, to create games that can achieve worldwide success,” said BlooBuzz President Éric Trudel. “With the financial backing of Quebecor Media and the strength of its network, we are confident that BlooBuzz will be a great opportunity to showcase Saguenay and Quebec entrepreneurial talents in a field where our developing and creative skills are already well-established.”
