One Girl Can – A New Book From The Dove Self-Esteem Fund

doveIntroducing Dove’s newest book titled One Girl Can, the perfect addition to any young Canadian girl’s personal library this year. The book, now available exclusively at Walmart Canada for $7.98, is another great example of how the Dove Self-Esteem Fund is helping young girls and women develop healthy and positive relationships with their beauty.

Research shows that beauty pressures in the lives of young women are taking a huge toll on girls’ self-esteem, social involvement and engagement. However, the negative effect of these pressures is minimized when girls have positive role models in their lives. This is why the Dove Self-Esteem Fund is devoted to encouraging the development of relationships among mentors, mothers and young girls with tools like community workshops, free online self-esteem education tools, and now, the book One Girl Can.

One Girl Can is a collection of real stories mixed with simple self-esteem enhancing and relationship building activities for moms/mentors and girls. Its aim is to facilitate bonding, open lines of communication on important discussion topics and spread the message that ‘one girl can’ really make a difference. The stories of the following 14 young Canadian girls, ages 12-16, exemplify confidence, self-esteem, and unfaltering courage. Their triumphs are very relatable, and designed to encourage young girls to see themselves in the pages while inspiring them to reach their own full personal potential.

The girls featured in One Girl Can include:

  • Miranda – Victoria, BC
  • Alexis – Winnipeg, AB
  • Skye – Cold Lake, AB
  • Kaylee – Vegreville, AB
  • Mackenzie – Roblin, MB
  • Genevieve – Rockwood, ON
  • Angelica – Hastings, ON
  • Brady – Kingston, ON
  • Kenya – Quebec City, QC
  • Kaela – Beaconsfield, QC
  • Christine – Baie d’Urfe, QC
  • Chloé – Mirabel, QC
